Conrad Scheepers, is a graduating Masters of Architecture Student from California College of the Arts. As a well-versed designer in the field of architecture, he strives to approach every project with comprehensive understanding and empathy from concept to delivery. Conrad uses his experience in academic research, visual storytelling, and building to guide his collaboration with others and to bring authenticity and professionalism to every project.

During his time at CCA, Conrad followed his curiosity to find a middle-ground between craft and computation. For example, as a Design Resident at the Autodesk’s Technology Center fabrication facility, he explored the capacity of additive manufacturing, with bio-clay, to produce three-dimensionally adaptive structures that could gain strength without firing. The project went on to win the Outstanding Science Award at the 2023 BioDesign Challenge.

He has also gained invaluable professional experience as a designer and fabricator at Futureforms, Keernsmith Architecture, and other notable bay area architecture firms. He has also taken an active role in many extracurricular events and groups at CCA, winning the 2023 AIAS SF Emerging Leadership Award.

Conrad’s awareness of the distinction between humanity and technology and how this understanding can be applied towards projects allows him to seamlessly integrate his skills as a thoughtful designer, rigorous researcher, and talented builder into a cohesive process. Along with these attributes Conrad brings a deep respect and understanding of the importance of ecological systems in design. Conrad represents the type of architectural advocate needed to contribute significant vision for tangible change in the future at this critically juncture of climate change.
