This project was developed over the course of two mini-studios. The first half, taught by Adam Marcus, focused on the development of a parametric logic based approach to form and aggregation, that could be iterated upon and deployed to an unknown site. The second studio, taught by Megumi Aihara, introduced the site and program; a pavilion situated in an abandoned lot in San Francisco’s Portola District. The existence of an underground channelized creek, inspired me to approach this project with the intent of ‘rewilding’ a portion of the lot. By daylighting the creek and slowing the water down to form a small pond, the project aims to partner with local flora and fauna and support a return to the area’s native ecology of a stewarded wetland habitat. The studio’s assigned program of a community market tied in well with the project’s ideals of a regenerative circular ecosystem.
